María-Ángeles Fuentes-Loureiro holds a PhD in Law from the University of A Coruña, where she presented her dissertation on Environmental Criminality in the field of waste. In her research career, she studied crimes against the environment and Green Criminology issues. Other secondary research lines are animal protection and corruption in the environmental field, urban planning and public procurement. She was visiting scholar at the School of Justice of Queensland University of Technology, in Brisbane, Australia, from September to December 2016, and at the Max Planck Institute for International and Comparative Criminal Law, in Freiburg, Germany, from September to December 2017. She has presented her work in more than twenty international and national conferences, and has published various book chapters, scientific reports and journal articles in Spain, Italy and the United States.
