[ENG] On November 26, ECRIM together with its consortium partners University of Turin (Italy), Romanian Center for European Policies (Romania), Amapola Progetti (Italy), and the Italian Ministry of Justice (Italy), organised the closing conference of the European Commission-funded Trust & Action project, entitled ‘The European Supervision Order and the recognition of probation measures and alternative sanctions in the EU: Challenges and prospects‘.

This conference gathered presentations made by various members of the Trust & Action consortium, together with talks given by Adriano Martufi (Leiden University, Netherlands) and Wouter van Ballegooij (European Parliamentary Research Service). In their talks, presenters reflected on a number of challenges affecting both FD 2008/947/JHA and FD 2009/829/JHA judicial cooperation measures. ECRIM was represented in this conference by the presentations made by Ana M. Neira-Pena and Patricia Faraldo-Cabana

Ana M. Neira

Ana M. Neira-Pena presented a paper named ‘The obstacles to the application of the European Supervision Order‘, in which she scrutinised the obstacles hampering the regular implementation of the European Supervision Order and FD 2009/829/JHA procedures within EU member states, as well as the measures to be taken to overcome these shortcomings.

Patricia Faraldo

Patricia Faraldo, in turn, gave a talk entitled ‘Two worlds colliding: offenders’ rehabilitation and victims’ rights in FD 2008/947/JHA‘. In her talk, Prof Faraldo dissected the regulation of FD 2008/947/JHA probation and noncustodial measures with a view to highlight its many weaknesses in terms of both offernders’ rehabilitation goals and victims’ rights.
